Submission Guidelines
At Black Rose Books we are committed to publishing the best in critical writing on politics, cultural studies, history, philosophy, sociology, the environment, and the media. We welcome new book proposals appropriate to this publishing programme. Submitting a Proposal:
So that we may evaluate your manuscript for publication as quickly as possible, we ask that you send the following materials:
1. A Letter explaining the subject of your manuscript and its intended audience;
2. An Outline of the text and/or Table of Contents;
3. Preface and/or Introduction;
4. One Sample Chapter;
5. Current curriculum vitae, and if applicable, List of Contributors.
6. A Reading Fee of $50. (payable to the order of Black Rose Books; U.S. $ outside Canada), which will be returned to the author if the manuscript is published.
At this stage, even though your manuscript may be complete, do not send the entire manuscript. Once our editors have had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with your proposal, they will contact you with further information on how to proceed.
Typically, the editors meet to consider potential manuscripts for publication quarterly. This being the case, a review could take between 3 and 6 months, but we do make every effort to reply as quickly as possible.
